Look. All I wanted was Pizza. May be a Calzone. I took the radio station's van to a small place on the main drag in Casper. I was hungry. Looking for food.  I spent a weekend with Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. In Laramie. So I understand when I get some crazy stuff that is  out of the oridnary in terms of the vibe.  What I got in Casper was.  What I got was.....Charlie Tyrrel. Charlie is your unique man. He built a cabin within sight of Devil's Tower in the Black Hills, by him self.By him self. All done by Charlie! You try that stuff.  He's been a pilot for Wyoming LIfe Flight, he's been a commercial painter, worked in the coal mines, has been a bartender and what he says is his best gig "I started a paper in Wright Wyoming." Tyrell started his workingl life at 13 as a sode jerk in his native Long Island. He left his hometown of Northport to study technical theater at Done College in Crete, Nebraska.  "I'll tell you Doc," he said. "You know me. We used to hang out in Gillette when we were crazy and young. You remember Y100? Those nights with you me Neil, and those millionaires? You, Me, Jim Nulle. We were crazy. Heck Doc I remember when you, Nulle, and I thought we were going to change the world". Charlie and I passed ways for a few years. He decided to start a newspaper, after coal mining for 11 years. Before starting a newspaper he got bored and started flying for Wyoming Life Flight at Wyoming Medical Center. In 1985 he started The Wright News. The paper proved to be financially non viable, so he returned to coal mining for 11 years. "Come on Doc. You know we all need to make money. Coal mining allowed me to do some carzy shit." Like flying his two seat aerobatic and cross country kit airplane. Now it comes to present day. "I was hungry," he said. He opened his first restaurant in Hulett. "I failed. Tried to do to much." He returned to to LIfe Flight in 2008, while opening up a pizza concession stop at Casper/Natrona County Internal Airport. He was laild off and lost his Hulett lease in 2012. "I was really discouraged." He said. Cutting to the chase now. Charlie has a place in downtown Casper. Charlie has "Charlies Pizzias" in downtown Casper. "Y ou know Doc, I may go back to flying. But right now I love making pizzazas for the City of Casper. The other day Senator Barasso called and said "Can you make me a dozen pizzas." And I said "you got it." "Thats what I'm doing now. He recently turned down a pilot job and he said "I'd rather be downtown presenting music, stories and having people have a good time and having people love Casper than I don't know, flying planes." Can I get a Pizza to Go.
