A Former Casper College Instructor Is Returning To Co-Teach Shakespeare

According to Amelotte, the eight-week course worth three credits will explore four plays written after King James I ascended the throne of England: “Measure for Measure,” “King Lear,” “Macbeth,” and “The Winter’s Tale.” “The course is aimed at engaging student interest and increasing their appreciation of Shakespeare’s late plays,” said Amelotte. “The class will also include a study of films of performances of the above plays and two others written during the Jacobean years. In addition, the course will examine and respond to interpretations of actors, directors, and literary critics in order to arrive at a more complete understanding of the Jacobean plays, both as literature and performance,” Amelotte noted.

“Shakespeare’s Jacobean Plays” (ENGL/HUMN 2490 – Topics) will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and will include a lab that can be taken on either Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. or on Sundays from 7 to 10 p.m.
