Before the snow starts to fly and the kids are back in school, you may need a battery recharge south of the border, in Estes Park,Colorado. With the leaves changing soon, you may want to try to time your trip to when the trees turn to gold. The scenery is spectacular so bring a camera.

All ages will love this trip. With a Silent Movie and Comedy Film Festival August 21st through the 24th, your parents may love some of the 1900s movies accompanied by a live piano player.

You can fish in the stream that runs right through the heart of town. I've caught some decent trout there. Horseback riding is fun, along with hiking & biking. It’s always a treat to check out The Stanley Hotel, which is where they filmed the Steven King movie, The Shining, starring Jack Nicholson.

The Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival, the country's biggest, features demos and vendors, music and of course a taste of the culinary skills of these respective countries. Mark September 4th through the 7th on your calendar for that.

One of the best things about Estes Park is it’s location at the eastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Day visitors can get in free August 25th and on September 27th, otherwise, it’s $20 per car.

Short trip, big fun.
