Before Griffith got his television break he used to do stand up comedy, it was this bit here that got him noticed and led to his big break, and the rest is history…

“The Andy Griffith Show” ran on CBS for 8 years in the 60′s, and starred Griffith as Sheriff Andy Taylor, and the spin-off Mayberry RFD ran for another 3 seasons.  Griffith is also known from his 80′s role as Ben Matlock on the CBS series “Matlock”.

With all of his years on TV, Griffith won the hearts of millions of fans, and even won a Grammy for his gospel music, but never won an Emmy award for his television work.  Griffith also won the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
