Oscar winning actor Ernest Borgnine whose career spanned six decades has passed away at age 95. Borgnine did work in movies, television and cartoons. He provided the voice of Mermaid Man in the series Spongebob Squarepants.Borgnine was a decorated World War II veteran and made his Broadway debut in 1949.  He appeared in movies like The Poseidon Adventure, The Wild Bunch and The Dirty Dozen. His first big role (in a movie) was From Here to Eternity. In 1955 he earned an Academy Award for Best Actor in the film Marty.

Borgnine was married five times and vowed he would live until 2013.

 

In an interview with ABC News Radio in 2008, Borgnine, speaking about his long career, said, "I've vowed that I'm gonna live to 2013. After that, I don't give a damn."
