Growing up as a kid I idolized the Allman Bros. Band. They were the second rock band I ever saw live. Duane Allman was a guitar god along with Dickey Betts. Greg Allman's vocals were something that soothed a teenagers anxiety and immaturity for many a night. And now it's all coming to and end. "

Gregg Allman says the Allman Brothers Band will split after celebrating their 45th anniversary during 2014.

The announcement comes after guitarist Warren Hayes and Derek Trucks both said they'd be bowing out following celebrations of the landmark date. Singer, keyboardist and guitarist Allman hasn’t said whether his decision is related to his bandmates’ moves: “This is it – this is the end of it.
