For the first time in two years a Wyoming Cowboy was selected in the NFL Draft. Former great Brian Hill was chosen by the Atlanta Falcons.

The Belleville, Ill. native went in the fifth round at pick 156 overall (12th in round) to the NFC Champs. Hill is the second junior from UW to be selected in the NFL Draft. He joins Derrick Martin, who went in the sixth round in 2006, and is the first Wyoming running back chosen since Ryan Christopherson went in the fifth round to Jacksonville in 1995.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution got Hill's first reaction about heading to the ATL.

Hill had an outstanding career with the Cowboys. In three seasons he became the school’s all-time leading rusher with 4,287 yards and scored a school record 35 rushing touchdowns. Hill also holds the single-game record at UW and in the Mountain West with 387 all-purpose yards against Fresno State in 2014.

The Atlanta Falcons have a crowded backfield with a 1-2 punch of Devonta Foreman and Tevin Coleman. Running back Terron Ward is in his third year with the Falcons, as well.

Hill was the fourth player from the Mountain West selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. San Diego State had guard Nico Siragusa (Ravens, fourth round), running back Donnel Pumphrey Jr. (Eagles, fourth) and corner Damontae Kazee (Falcons, fifth) chosen before the former Cowboy.
