The NCHS Mustangs (7-0) could have had a state title last year. But it escaped them by just a small margin. That kind of stuff sticks in juniors, sophmores, and coaches craws. It slips into athlete's minds at the most in inapportune time. Keeps coaches up at night. This year the Mustangs are on a terror. Literally running through most teams in 4A. Friday's matchup at Cheney Alumni Field pits two of the top teams in Class 4A against each other. The Mustangs will ensure itself the top seed in the playoff standings with a win at home against Sheridan (6-1). The Broncs poses a unique threat to Natrona County as arguably the fastest team in the state. The Broncs' speed will test the Mustangs, particularly on the defensive end. Natrona County must be disciplined in its assignments. Thats not to say the Mustangs are slow. It's just that the Broncs are fast. Really fast. It's Friday Night Lights. The game will be heard on our sister station with the play by play hosted by one of Wyoming's veteran broadcasters in the voice of Jack Nokes. Accompanying Jack will be the intellectual introspection of "Rodeo" Rick Darcey. The game can be heard on our sister station AM 1400 ESPN with pre-game at 6:45.
