Blackhawks Still Streaking – NHL News ANd Scores For March 4th

UNDATED (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have earned 12 one-goal victories while setting an NHL-record, season-opening point streak. Seven of those wins have come in overtime or a shootout, including Sunday's 2-1 decision over the Detroit Red Wings.

Patrick Kane scored the tying goal on a power play with 2:02 left in regulation and had the only shootout tally as the Hawks improved to 19-0-3. Chicago goalie Corey Crawford was perfect in the shootout and finished with 32 saves.

The Blackhawks have earned at least a point in 28 straight games dating to a March 25, 2012 loss in regulation to Nashville. That ties the second-longest streak in league history.

— David Desharnais (day-ahr-NAY') had two goals, including the game-winner midway through the third period of Montreal's 4-3 verdict over Boston. Max Pacioretty (pash-uh-RET'-ee) scored the equalizer in the third period before setting up the game-winner.

— Mikko Koivu (MEE'-koh KOY'-voo) provided the tiebreaking goal nine seconds into the third period of Minnesota's 4-2 win over Edmonton. The Wild outshot the Oilers 18-0 in a scoreless second period before beating Edmonton for the 19th time in their last 20 meetings in Minnesota.

— Shootout goals by John Taveras and Frans Nielsen allowed the New York Islanders to beat Ottawa 3-2, the Senators' third straight loss. Evgeni Nabokov (ehv-GEH'-nee nah-BAH'-kahv) made 29 saves as the Islanders won for only the third time in 12 home games.

— Artem Anisimov's (a-NEE'-see-mawvz) power-play goal midway through overtime lifted Columbus past visiting Colorado 2-1. Sergei Bobrovsky (SAIR'-gay bawb-RAWF'-skee) made 18 saves while Avalanche counterpart Semyon Varlamov (sehm-YAWN' vahr-LA'-mawv,) had 32.

— Dallas used Derek Roy's goal and two assists to beat St. Louis 4-1. Erik Cole scored in his second game since the Stars acquired him from Montreal last week.

— Carolina completed a home-and-home sweep of Florida as Jordan Staal, Alexander Semin, and Justin Faulk provided the Hurricanes' scoring in a 3-2 triumph over the Panthers. Cam Ward stopped all 15 shots he faced before leaving midway through the second period with what appeared to be a leg injury.

— Rick Nash was the offensive star in the New York Rangers' 3-2 win over Buffalo, registering a goal and an assist in regulation before scoring in the shootout. Derek Stepan (steh-PAHN') and Nash scored 43 seconds apart early in the third period on assists by Marian Gaborik (GAB'-uh-rik), but the Sabres extended the game on Nathan Gerbe's (GUR'-beez) short-handed goal with 11:41 left in regulation.

— Mike Cammalleri scored twice and Jarome Iginla (ih-GIHN'-luh) notched the game-winner with 7:24 left as Calgary doubled up Vancouver 4-2. Iginla has five goals in his last four games after scoring just once in his first 16 games of the season.
