When Bob Dylan brought the song "Like a Rolling Stone" to the market place it was considered a true piece of art. Now the song itself is again making monetary headlines. "The draft of Bob Dylan's Like a Rolling Stone, one of the most popular songs of all time, has sold for $2m at auction.Sotheby's in New York said it was a record amount for a pop manuscript. The draft is written in pencil in Dylan's own hand on four sheets of letterhead stationery from a Washington DC hotel. It includes revisions, additions, notes and doodles of a hat, a bird and an animal with antlers." The sale of the song bested John Lennon's Beatle's song a day in the life. "The sale price topples the previous record for a pop manuscript - in 2010, John Lennon's handwritten lyrics for A Day in the Life, the final track on the Beatles' classic 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, sold for $1.2m."
