Those interested in filing for Casper City Council can begin doing so beginning May 17, according to a news release from the city manager's office.

That date also marks the beginning of the filing period through June 1 for those seeking their party's primary nomination for other positions on Aug. 21.

Six of the nine nonpartisan city council seats will be filled:

  • In Ward I, generally central Casper, there are two seats: one four-year seat and one two-year seat.
  • In Ward II, generally west Casper, there are two seats: one four-year seat and one two-year seat.
  • In Ward III, generally east Casper, there are two four-year seats.

Candidates must file an “Application for Nomination by Primary” form with a non-refundable filing fee of $25 at the city's finance customer service office or the information desk at City Hall, 200 N. David St. Finance customer service office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Filing forms are available online the city's website and through the Wyoming Secretary of State’s Office.

Applications will not be accepted after 5 p.m., Friday, June 1.

The city will update the list of candidates during the May 17-June 1 filing period at 4 p.m. daily. The final update will be published on Monday, June 4.
