After much criticism over authorities' handling of sexual assault investigations, representatives of local groups which deal with such cases are holding a public panel discussion designed to answer questions and increase awareness.

A live stream makes the proceedings available to those who can't attend in person.

The event is aimed at educating and informing the community about legal, investigative, prosecutorial and victim-service issues and challenges associated with sexual assault cases.

Panel members will share information within their respective professional fields, while audience members are able to submit questions. The moderator will field questions if time allows.

The event runs from 7-8:15 p.m. at Casper College's Durham Hall.

Another panel discussion will be held May 18th at the same time and place. The second event will likely be more question-oriented.

The discussion is hosted by the Casper Police Department in concert with the Natrona County District Attorney's Office, the Self Help Center, the Children's Advocacy Project and Wyoming Medical Center.
