Casper College's Empower, Train, Employ (ETE) Program is seeking qualified applicants for no cost training to become administrative assistants.

There are some qualifications.

To participate, an individual must be a parenting adult, income qualify, complete an interview and program screenings, and commit to attend all class and program sessions.

Classes for the program will run from October to December 2014. The free program will include training on Microsoft programs and Intuit QuickBooks, opportunities for job shadowing, community involvement, professional development, books and supplies, and continuing education credits. In addition, the program will include computer, organization, and communication skills to help those who successfully complete the program become better candidates for employment.

ETE is a grant-funded program at Casper College through the Department of Family Services. Each year, research and needs assessments are conducted to locate industries and occupations with high growth rates or a demonstrated need for qualified employees. “O*NET OnLine lists administrative assistant as a Bright Outlook Occupation and expects it to grow rapidly in the next several years and have a large number of job openings through 2022,” said Ashley Mikels, workforce training specialist at Casper College.

Those interested in participating in the program are asked to contact Mikels at 307-268-2124 or amikels@caspercollege.edu.
