Casper police officers arrested a man late Friday after he reportedly fled from officers and led them on a pursuit.

John G. Valenzuela, 35 was booked into jail on recommended charges of eluding, interference and no drivers license. He will likely make his initial appearance in Natrona County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Monday.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, a police officer was in the 3000 Block of Indian Scout shortly before 10 p.m. Friday. The officer was watching Valenzuela's home, as Valenzuela had two warrants out for his arrest.

The officer watched as a red passenger car pulled into the driveway. Valenzuela got out of the car and walked into the garage. The officer had been told that Valenzuela, standing 6'1" tall and weighing roughly 275 pounds, liked to fight police officers, so he called for backup before trying to contact Valenzuela.

As officers walked to the residence, Valenzuela exited and got back into the red car. He noticed officers and drove off, despite an officer's attempt at a traffic stop.

Valenzuela allegedly continued down Whispering Springs at roughly 40 mph, with officers in pursuit. After several turns, police ceased the chase.

An officer went to Trevett and was flagged down by a man who said that Valenzuela had turned back onto Indian Scout. The officer returned to Valenzuela's home in time to see him park the car and get out, then run into the garage before another man closed the garage door.

Officers spoke to Valenzuela through the garage door, explaining that he had warrants and that it was best for him to give himself up. After about 25 minutes, Valenzuela exited through the front door and was taken into custody.
