Colorado voters have approved a ballot initiative to make marijuana legal for adults and regulate it in a manner similar to alcohol.According to the latest election numbers, 53.30% of voters are in favor of the amendment and 46.70% of voters opposed the measure.

According to a news release from Amendment 64 campaign leaders, a news conference will be held today at 11:00 a.m. to discuss the next steps.   It will be held at the Civic Center Park in Denver.

Amendment 64 removes criminal penalties for possession and home-growing of limited amounts of marijuana, establishes a system of state and locally regulated and taxed marijuana production and sales, and allows for the legal cultivation of industrial hemp, according to campaign leaders.
