I know the Super Bowl is over and many of us are still recovering.  But it’s time to look ahead.

Eighteen of our Broncos are going to be released in the open waters of the free agent market.  A third of them were significant starters for Denver and made incredible contributions to the winning season, including Knowshon Moreno, Eric Decker, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Zane Beadles, Wesley Woodyard, Shaun Phillips, and Mike Adams.

At this point Elway is not sharing Denver’s intentions regarding some of the fans’ favored players.  According to denverbroncos.com they are still working on their free agency strategy.   “We’re still in that process of evaluating where we are…and it is still early in the process to know what we’re going to do in the free market,” Elway said during a press conference from the Combine.

There, of course, are decisions to be made regarding the contracts of Head Coach John Fox and Cornerback Champ Bailey, who has a year left on his four year contract.  Elway is also looking ahead.  Both Tomases (Julius and Demaryius) and Wes Welker are up next year.

I’m trying to have confidence in the “powers that be in Denver” to do what’s best for the team.  But as a fan it will be disappointing if we have to say good-bye to some of our favorites!
