Personally I don't care if the Cowboys win another conference game the rest of the season. As a U.W. Alumni, (numerous bachelor degrees and heck even a Masters degree) I've spent my fair share of time and money in Laramie. And the only time I really enjoy the gridiron exploits of the Pokes, is when they beat Colorado State University. I love beating the sheep. It's actually a physical, visceral feeling I get when I think of them. I once got beat up out side of Moby gym many years ago after a Cowboy-CSU basketball game back in the Jim Brandenburg days.

And today the University of Wyoming Cowboy football team accomplished a huge goal, especially for the seniors. To say that the Pokes (2-7, 1-4 in conference) have been struggling on the field is like saying the Titanic had a small leak. But today all is well. The Cowboys have the Bronze Boot firmly in their grasp with a 45-31 victory over the CSU Rams. And it was thanks to the much maligned and intrinsically injured Cowboy quarterback Brett Smith's five touchdowns...one he ran for and four he used his rocket of an arm, throwing for 235 yards. For me the Pokes season is complete. But for most there is still a lot of football left. Cowboys go on the road next week to take on the New Mexico Lobos (4-6, 1-4 MWC). But for now...well all is well on the High Plains of Laramie.
