UPDATE: The crash this morning involved a full-sized pickup and compact car.

The driver of the pickup was headed westbound on Old Glenrock Highway when for unknown reasons, it slid off the road to the right. The driver over-corrected and slid into the eastbound lane into oncoming traffic.

A compact car coming the other way tried to avoid the truck by steering to the right, but they both hit essentially broadside in the barrow ditch.

The pickup caught fire and burned “down to the ground” according to the Highway Patrol.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with severe injuries. Their conditions are not known.

There were no passengers and no other vehicles involved.
