Reminder: Your Dogs Hate Fireworks so Bring Them Inside on the 4th

Nothing says the Fourth of July like fireworks in the sky at night. It's a fun spectacle for all ages, but they're not for everyone - especially your dog. That super-sensitive hearing plus the loud explosions in the sky can't be fun. Here's a few things you should know if you're a dog owner leading up to the 4th of July.

It's a good idea to have a safe haven for your dog during this time. If they don't have their base, then maybe consider setting up a special spot behind the couch or even a floor cupboard.

If it's unavoidable, there are some pheromones you can pick up at most pet shops to calm them.

If you haven't, yet, consider microchipping them in case they run off in fear.

It's not just dogs, but cats and other small critters may not like the loud, booming sound of fireworks, either.

If you don't or don't think there's an issue, watch your dog for excessive barking, clinginess or even physical shaking. Those are all signs of distress.
