A 31-year-old Laramie County jail inmate is back in custody after escaping from a work crew.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Capt. Linda Gesell says Randall M. Carr and four other inmates were working at the Cheyenne Animal Shelter around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, when Carr decided to take off.

Gesell says Carr, who was being held at the jail for a probation violation on original charges of reckless endangerment and domestic violence, was caught about 20 minutes later.

Also arrested was Jasmine J. Lieurance, who reportedly helped Carr by picking him up at the Animal Shelter, giving him a change of clothing and disposing of his jail uniform at the southeast Cheyenne Walmart.

The incident remains under investigation.
