While Bill Clinton was burning up the 1992 campaign trail, the song that he officially slated as the theme for his future presidency was "Don't Stop", by Fleetwood Mac. So when he was inaugurated into the White House as our 42nd President on Jan. 20, 1993, it only made sense that the group would come out of retirement to play that same track at the Inaugural Gala the night before at the Capital Centre in Landover, Md.

Found on the 1977 LP 'Rumours,' the song made a furious reappearance with the help of the saxophone-wielding and non-inhaling future president. Clinton's hip decision in making "Don't Stop" the musical motif for his campaign helped to identify him as one the country's "baby boomers" while exhibiting a message of hope and optimism.

In a tactful display of his ability to finesse broken relationships, Clinton and his campaign team reunited the often-fractured band to perform at the celebration. Fleetwood Mac had not played together since 1982, and as the footage illustrates, the entire group was honored and excited to play for such a profound purpose.

In a truly historic performance the band flawlessly executes a celebratory version of their beloved classic. By the end of the song not only have the Clintons joined the band on stage, but also Michael Jackson and a host of Clinton associates. Twenty years ago an unlikely source encouraged an unexpected musical reunion. Both the Clintons and Fleetwood Mac used this "summit" as an opportunity to look forward to the possibilities of a new tomorrow.
