“Although the exhibit remembers all of the western trail emigrants, those that performed extraordinary or heroic actions are memorialized through Julie’s artwork,” said NHTIC Interpreter Shawn Wade. “Every emigrant that traveled west encountered adversity in some very tangible way, some particularly distinguished themselves through self-sacrifice and a willingness to assist others.”

“They were just ordinary people doing remarkable things," said Rogers. "They saved each other.”

"Rogers’ artwork helps to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Trails System Act while fulfilling the Bureau of Land Management’s commitment to protecting public lands by connecting community members and visitors to America’s cultural heritage," according to a release from NHTIC, noting this is the artist's third showing there.

“Heroes of the Emigrant Trails” will be free and open to the public May 2 until June 27 during regular business hours.
