UPDATE 11:00am - Casper Police say the situation is over. The 25-year old male that barricaded himself inside the residence has come out, and there were no injuries. Those that were evacuated from their home earlier, may now return. All lockdowns have been lifted.

UPDATE 9:15 a.m. -  Casper Police say the incident that prompted the lockdown began around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to Bretton where a 25-year-old man had barricaded himself inside a home.  The suspect is alone in the home, and there have been no injuries reported.  Police say the scene has been secured, as officers attempt to get the man out of the home.  Officials say there are no additional threats at this time.

UPDATE 9:00 a.m- Verda James remains in lockdown. The lock downs at all other schools have been lifted.

UPDATE: 8:40 a.m. - Casper Fire/EMS is reporting a 25-year-old man has barricaded himself in a home near several schools. That incident prompted this morning's lockdown. Police are attempting to negotiate with the suspect.

Several Natrona County School District facilities have been locked down while Casper Police investigate a nearby incident.

District officials say Manor Heights, Woods, Verda James and Kelly Walsh are locked down as a precaution. According to the Natrona County School District website, all children at school are safe. If your children are not yet at school, keep them with you until further notice. In addition, buses enroute to the school have been diverted to safe locations.

No other information about the police investigation is yet available. We will post any updates as the details are made available.
