Harold Hill is a con man, not a band leader. The naive Iowa townsfolk are taken in, but librarian and piano teacher Marian sees right through him.Harold helps Marian's younger brother overcome some personal obstacles and she begins to fall in love. The musical, which premiered on Broadway in 1957 tells the story of a con man who poses as a band leader while visiting an Iowa town. A local librarian is skeptical of this new arrival but begins to fall for him anyway. The show spawned a 1962 film that won an Oscar and received five additional nominations.
