Nothing comes between a disturbed person and their copy of the New York Times.

A crazed man scaled the venerable newspaper’s headquarters on 8th Avenue and 41st Street late last week, making it all the way up to the fifth floor of the 52-story building. He wasn’t planning to leap to his death; instead he made like Spider-Man in order to obtain a copy of all the news that’s fit to print.

We’d like to think that we’re stating the obvious here, but there are newsstands all over New York City, and across the street at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, most of which stock the Times. He could have easily grabbed a copy that way. It’s a lot safer. Although, when you’re wearing the Spidey pajamas in public there is a certain standard a man must live up to.

Cops were called to the scene at 7 AM on Saturday (March 24) and the man was in custody a few moments later, according to The New York Post (the Times couldn’t break their own story?!?). He told the authorities that he just wanted a copy of the paper. He was not injured in the stunt, but he was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he received a psychiatric evaluation.

Our Spidey senses are telling us this guy is a couple Avengers short of assembling an entire thought.
