Moving Toward Retirement? You May Want to Consider Cheyenne
Forget Jackson Hole! Cheyenne is the place to retire in the state of Wyoming.
Retirement sounds pretty good, doesn't it? It almost sounds as good as childhood. You (hopefully) don't have to work, you can travel and often times the only thing you have to worry about is making sure you spend time with your loved ones. In fact, a recent survey by Merill Lynch and Age Wave, says most people choose their retirement locations near their family.
Whether you're choosing to be near family or not, Cheyenne is top notch for retirees.
Financial adviser Kiplinger recently compiled a list of the 50 Best Places to Retire in the US. They looked at several contributing factors like population, the share of population over the age of 65, the cost of living, the average income for households 65 and older, and more.
Kiplinger says Cheyenne scored high in each of these categories.
14.1 percent of the population is over the age of 65 and the cost of living is just under the national average. Cheyenne is also one of the most tax friendly states for those living in retirement. For those who love to get outside, Cheyenne is ideal with hiking trails, biking, horseback riding, fishing, boating, wildlife viewing, and more. And who could forget Cheyenne Frontier Days?
What do you think? Would you retire in Cheyenne?
