Did you know the Rockey Mountain Region is littered with a bunch of different types of fossils? It's true!

I was browsing Twitter the other day and learned that there is a specific type of fossil that runs rampant through the cowboy state. (Mainly the Medicine Bow Mountains.) Which of course, led me to dig a little deeper into the Wyoming State Geological Survey site to find out what a Stromatolite was.

Turns out it is one of the oldest fossils that started out as a microbial mat and over thousands of years had colonized into a type of continental shelf.

It is said that it was one of the first fossils because it dates back to the Precambrian Era. Which if you didn't know that's almost 2 billion years ago.
