Paul Rodgers has been extremely busy readying his next solo project. The former Free and Bad Company lead singer known for his powerful, soulful singing style is covering a variety of soul and R&B classics.The Royal Sessions is due out February 4th, and will feature classics from the likes of Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Albert King and the Temptations.

"I really felt I had to get deeper inside myself than I ever had in my life," Rodgers says of the project.  "The end result is that recording these songs left me recharged as a singer and also as a songwriter."

 

Sales from The Royal Sessions will be donated to Memphis area music-education programs. Rodgers is planning to perform some special shows to showcase the album in the near future.

"My favorite part was the love we could feel in the room throughout all the sessions," notes Rodgers.  "We all spoke the same language."

 

The disc will contain 10 tracks, including a rendition of "Walk On By," "I've Been Loving You Too Long," and "Any Ole Way."
