On August 21st, 2017, we’ll witness an event 99 years in the making. For this total eclipse, you can expect to pay more for accommodations across the USA. Reports of price gouging for hotels, camping and house rentals fall under the law of supply and demand.

“Hotels in Casper, Wyoming, one of the best cities to view the eclipse, have increased prices upwards of 500%” - 9NEWS.

“$100 Rooms are now going between $400 and $700 per night. Airbnb homes are going for anywhere from $1,500 to $3,500 per night.”

For day visitors, it will be quite different at Grand Teton National Park, where they expect the busiest day in their history. The park will waive fees at the Granite Canyon, Moose and Moran entrance gates. But they will have staff and volunteers turning people away to avoid congestion.

Plan in advance, and check the latest room rates.

A footnote: Wind River Reservation is also gearing up to preserve sacred sites and graves. The Star Tribune says Shoshoni and Arapaho Fish and Game are bringing in reinforcements as well.
