Rodney King was at the center of the Los Angeles police brutality case that sparked the Los Angeles riots of 1992. King has died at age 47.King's fiancee found him at the bottom of the pool at King's home in Rialto, California, at about 5:30 early Sunday morning.

"She did try to save him. However, she is not a good swimmer and chose to dial 911 and call the police department," Capt. Randy Deanda of the Rialto Police Department told ABC station KABC-TV in Los Angeles.

King was rushed to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead before 6 :15 am Sunday morning.

No signs of foul play were found, however the San Bernardino County Coroner's office will conduct toxicology tests on King's body in an attempt a cause of death.

King was beaten by the Los Angeles Police Department following a 1991 DUI traffic stop. The violent beating, during which four cops hit and kicked King more than 50 times, was filmed by a man who saw the incident from his home.

The policemen involved in the beating were brought to trial in 1992 and were acquitted setting off the  riots of Los Angeles. More than 50 people died and the damaged caused was estimated at $1billion dollars.
