The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Musical Ride has been all over the world but they have never been to Wyoming. That fact is going to change when the horsemen in red jackets and flat brimmed Stetsons will provide entertainment at the evening performances of the PRCA Rodeos at the Wyoming State Fair on August 16 and 17 and the afternoon rodeo on the 18.

“We are more than excited that the first time the RCMP Musical Ride is able to come to Wyoming is for the 100th celebration of the Wyoming State Fair,” said James Goodrich, Director of the Wyoming State Fair. “The 100th is a big event and we wanted to bring in big entertainment for attendees to enjoy and that is exactly what the RCMP Musical Ride is, big entertainment.”

The RCMP has been in use in Canada for many years. They were first created in the late 1800’s to help enforce Canada’s laws to their newly acquired western territories. With their professional manner and impressive horsemanship skills, it is no surprise that they are almost as famous for their entertaining skills as they are for their police work.

Wyoming State Fair will get to see RCMP famous musical performance that is done by 32 riders and their horses along with the member in charge. The performance includes intricate figures and cavalry drills choreographed to music. The RCMP travels with 36 horses and planning has to be done months in advance to ensure a reservation spot on the RCMP entertainment schedule.
