Officials with the Casper-Natrona County Public Health Department expect a particularly severe flu season this year. Already, multiple people have been hospitalized with flu-like symptoms in the Casper area.

The Centers for Disease Control says 39 states, including Wyoming, are reporting moderate or high influenza-like activity.

"We have high amounts of flu in our community right now," public health director Robert Harrington said. "It seems to be a little more variant and severe than in previous years."

Harrington says, despite declining vaccination supplies, it’s still beneficial to get vaccinated.

"I guess the message is, 'It's not too late to get a vaccination if you can find one,'" Harrington said. "We have none left at our facility, but you should get yourself vaccinated if you have not."
