As we've been reading about the concerts by the Sound City Players, the supergroup assembled by Dave Grohl to help promote 'Sound City,' his movie about the Los Angeles studio, we've become intrigued by a new song he co-wrote with Stevie Nicks, 'You Can't Fix This.' Last night, the two performed the song on CBS' 'The Late Show with David Letterman.'

So many of Nicks' most celebrated songs throughout her career have come as a result of her willingness to put her personal anguish into her work. She wrote the lyric to 'You Can't Fix This' as a poem following the death of her 18-year old godson at a fraternity party.

While it's unusual to hear Nicks' voice without the aid of either Fleetwood Mac or high-priced L.A. session pros, working with Grohl is an inspired choice. His power chords, laden with heavy doses of reverb, bring out the darkness in the lyric, while his Foo Fighters bandmate, drummer Taylor Hawkins, emphasizes it with some heavy tom work.

'You Can't Fix This' will be included on the movie's soundtrack, 'Sound City: Real to Reel,' which will be released March 12.
