While it's been a slow year in Casper for live music, things are starting to heat up. This is the time of year when many bands are wrapping up their scheduling and finalizing contracts. We just received this nugget from the Casper Events Center:

The Casper Events Center is pleased to announce that Sublime with Rome will play for one night only at the Casper Events Center on August 10th! Fueled By Ramen band Sublime with Rome – singer/guitarist Rome, bass player Eric Wilson, and drummer Josh Freese - have unveiled details for their summer touring plans for North America and will be making a stop in Casper, Wyoming.

With the release of “YOURS TRULY” - their first album of new music in over a decade – Sublime with Rome returned to the top of the radio charts with hits like “Panic” and “Take It Or Leave It.” A relentless touring schedule took the band all over the world, playing the new songs alongside old favorites. Last year, frontman Rome Ramirez released his solo debut EP, “DEDICATION,” which saw the talented singer/songwriter teaming with a stellar line-up of studio superstars – including Benny Blanco (Maroon 5, Ke$ha, Wiz Khalifa), Robopop (Gym Class Heroes, Lana Del Rey), and The Futuristics (The Lonely Island Feat. Justin Timberlake & Lady Gaga) – as well as Nate Ruess of fun. and Grammy-winning producer Jeff Bhasker (fun., Kanye West, Jay-Z) on the exhilarating title track. Rome is currently working on his debut full length.

Sublime with Rome first came together in 2009 for a series of shows including such multi-artist bills as Cypress Hill’s Smokeout and the annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas spectacular. Buoyed by the extraordinarily positive response, the band embarked on a worldwide headline tour that drew packed houses and rave reviews at every stop. While the music of Sublime has always remained in constant radio rotation, singer/songwriter Rome scored a hit of his own, co-writing and lending his distinctive voice to The Dirty Heads’ recent #1 modern rock hit, “Lay Me Down.”

Founded in Long Beach, CA, in 1988, Sublime was without question one of the most successful and influential ska-punk bands of all time. Fueled by such radio hits as “Date Rape,” “Santeria,” and the chart-topping “What I Got,” the band achieved worldwide sales in excess of 17 million, including 1992’s RIAA 2x-platinum certified “40 OZ. TO FREEDOM,” 1994’s gold certified “ROBBIN’ THE HOOD,” 1996’s 5x-platinum blockbuster, “SUBLIME,” and 1997’s platinum certified “SECOND HAND SMOKE.” Named by Los Angeles’ KROQ as its third “Biggest Band of All Time” for six years running – topped only by Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana.

Sublime with Rome will have support from Iration, an alternative/reggae group of musicians formed in Isla Vista, CA. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 3rd and will be available online at CasperEventsCenter.com, by phone at 800-442-2256 or at the Casper Events Center Box Office.
