The NBC comedy 'Community' said goodbye to one of its cast members last night, and they used a new version of Styx's 1977 smash 'Come Sail Away' to send him off properly.
Midwestern rockers Styx and REO Speedwagon will stage a benefit concert to aid central Illinois families impacted by the recent tornadoes and high winds that hit the area. The event, scheduled for Dec. 4 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, has been titled Rock to the Rescue.
Styx had just broken through to superstardom when they released their eighth studio album, 'Pieces of Eight.' The album cemented their position as one of the biggest arena rock headlining groups in America -- but it also heralded a change that would ultimately help to pull the band apart.
Since founding their Rock to the Rescue charity in 2002, frequent tourmates Styx and REO Speedwagon have raised money for a growing number of worthy causes. Their latest focus: the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.
Former Styx frontman Dennis DeYoung brought his solo show titled 'The Music of Styx' to Nashville's historic War Memorial Auditorium on Friday night (June 28). The show is billed as a Styx greatest hits show, and that's exactly what DeYoung delivered, turning back the clock for two hours of pure Stygian magic.

Classic rockers Styx and REO Speedwagon -- along with tour mate Ted Nugent -- have come to the rescue once again. The heartland rockers will donate a portion of the proceeds from their current Midwest Rock 'N' Roll Express tour to victims of the recent Boston Marathon bombings.
There probably isn't a heck of a lot of overlap between their fanbases, but that didn't stop Slayer guitarist Kerry King from showing up for Styx's Feb. 8 concert -- or hanging out with Tommy Shaw and James 'JY' Young backstage after the last encore.
Cheyenne Frontier Days officials have completed the 2013 Frontier Nights® concert lineup. Journey with very special guest star Styx will kick off the evening entertainment on Friday, July 19. Tickets for the show will go on-sale March 15.
According to Styx, their record company has been less than honest with forking over their royalties for the past several years. In fact, the band alleges that the record company went as far as creating a “phony business model” just to avoid paying them – talk about a grand illusion.
