Have you ever thought about a career in HVAC? Heating, ventilation, and air condition training is being offered by the Casper College ETE Program.

The Empower, Train, Employ Program is providing free training for maintenance workers, HVAC apprentices or anyone interested in the field. The program is currently seeking qualified applicants.

“The HVAC industry is a “secure field, cannot be outsourced and will always require people. There is a high demand in the maintenance industry for HVAC workers, and this is a great start for anyone who wishes to seek a career in HVAC, sheet metal, plumbing, electrical work, welding, or maintenance, said Ashley Mikels, workforce-training specialist at Casper College. According to Mikels, the reported median income is $43,880 annually (O*NET OnLine), and training will include knowledge of codes, ability to use basic tools, hands-on skill practice, and knowledge of available career paths.

“The training is provided at no cost to participants. ETE recognizes the hardships that parents may face as they try to better themselves and continue to provide for their families, and in many cases the program can provide financial assistance or referrals to help with the cost of transportation, interview clothing, job screening, living, and more. All participants must meet the qualifications of the grant,” Mikels noted.

ETE is a grant-funded program at Casper College through the Department of Family Services. Each year, research and needs assessments are conducted to locate industries and occupations with high growth rates or a demonstrated need for qualified employees.
