'Transformers 4' has been filming for a few months now, but other than the occasional set photo or video of something blowing up, things have been pretty quiet. Little questions like "What's the movie even about?" continue to go unanswered. And to be perfectly honest, those questions will continue to go unanswered for the time being ... but at least we now know that the film will somehow involve robots that can transform into dinosaurs.

As any child of the '80s can tell you, the Dinobots were a group of Autobots (AKA, good Transformers) who transformed into prehistoric animals instead of automobiles. They're uh, kinda' dumb. To be fair, that makes them perfect for Michael Bay's tremendously dumb film series, which has never scoffed and turned its nose up at a terrible idea.

This reveal is secondhand news, coming from the Beijing News (via Coming Soon). 'Transformers' franchise producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura spoke with the outlet and the result was this poorly translated but somewhat informative paragraph of text:

I can not disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world's coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China's vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them.

Through the veil of nonsensical translation, di Bonaventura essentially says that there will be some really cool cars (and Chinese vehicles, Chinese audiences!) and Dinobots in the movie. That's not much, but it's something.

'Transformers 4' is targeting a June 27, 2014 release date. It will star Mark Wahlberg and, apparently, a bunch of dinosaur robots.
