Tuesday Evening Thunderstorms

Two severe thunderstorms passed through central Wyoming generally, and Natrona County specifically on Tuesday evening beginning around 6pm.

Emergency Management Director Stewart Anderson says it didn’t last long, but with it came damaging hail ranging from nickel and quarter sized to golf ball sized.

Emergency sirens were activated, and warnings were almost constant on K2 Radio. Early reports indicated some auto and home damage, but so far, nothing severe.

A second wave of rain approached just before 8pm. Flash Flood Watches were issued, but again, early reports are that there has been no significant flooding.

A estimated 2 inches of rain fell in a 30-minute period.

Anderson says they were worried that these storms might spawn a tornado but fortunately that never materialized.

The worst of the storms ended in Natrona County around 8:30.
