The college football world is noticing the new turf at the University of Wyoming.

In a recent article, Yahoo Sports compiled a list of their favorite "non-traditional" college football fields.  The new turf at UW, which was installed this summer, made the top 6.

Yahoo Sports added "The mountains in the end zone are a nice touch; if some Cowboy doesn't incorporate them into an end-zone celebration, we'll be disappointed."

The field includes over 750,000 pounds of crushed rubber to provide cushioning to the playing surface.  The cost of the new field was $500,000 that came from self-generated dollars.  No state funds were used in the project.

Wyoming football kicks off August 31st at Nebraska.  The home opener and first game ever on the turf is September 7th versus Idaho.

Also on the list was Boise State's famous blue turf, the large lion logo at Texas A&M-Commerce, Eastern Washington's orange turf, Lindenwood University's striped field, and Central Arkansas purple and gray turf.
