Andre Benjamin or Andre 3000 is taking on guitar legend Jimi Hendrix in the upcoming biopic Jimi: All Is By My Side.

The official trailer has been released and we get a glimpse of this much anticipated   movie.

The trailer shows Benjamin as Hendrix interacting with various music-business figures, love interests and band members, and includes glimpses of some reenacted onstage performances by the late rock icon.

One scene depicts Hendrix's positive philosophy about life, as Andre as Jimi declares, "You really wanna change things?  When the power of love takes over the love of power, that's when things will change."  Another scene shows Hendrix's spiritual attitude toward his music, as the actor says, "I want my music to go inside the soul of a person.  For me, it's colors.  I want people to feel the music the same way I see it."

Jimi: All Is By My Side  was written and directed by Oscar-winner John Ridley, who helmed 12 Years a Slave.  The movie, which also stars Hayley Atwell and Imogen Poots as Hendrix's girlfriends Kathy Etchingham and Linda Keith, respectively, is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on September 26.  The flick previously was screened at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and this year's South by Southwest film fest.

Since we're on the subject of Hendrix, watch these two guys rock Purple Haze on Cellos.
