Original Story:

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch ahead of a system which could bring significant snow accumulations across much of central and western Wyoming.

Both sides of the Continental Divide are expected to see snowfall Sunday night through Monday night, while additional snow was expected for far western Wyoming on Saturday night.

According to an urgent winter weather message posted by the NWS Saturday afternoon, it's possible that Casper could see three to seven inches of snow Monday. Winds could gust up to 35 mph in open areas.

The winter storm watch covers much of central Wyoming in addition to Casper including the Owl Creek and Bridger Mountains, the eastern Wind River Range, the Wind River Basin, Lander Foothills, Green Mountains, Rattlesnake Range, Casper Mountain, Riverton Shoshoni, Lander and Jeffrey City.

Roads are expected to be slick. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, particularly on South Pass. The NWS says such hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute Monday.
