For the second time in two weeks the Wyoming Cowboys have had a defensive player named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week. It was announced by the league office Monday that Sophomore Defensive End Eddie Yarbrough has earned the distinction.

Yarbrough recorded nine total tackles, including 3 sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss, while also recovering a fumble and breaking up one pass in Wyoming’s 42-10 home win over Idaho.

His fumble recovery came on the final Idaho possession of the first quarter and led to Wyoming’s first touchdown of the game on the ensuing series. The pass breakup came on Idaho’s final possession of the first half on a third-and-1 for the Vandals. Yarbrough’s PBU forced fourth down and Idaho’s series ended with a missed 41-yard field goal.

Yarbrough’s three sacks totaled 28 yards lost (15, five and eight yards) by Idaho.

Senior safety Marqueston Huff was named the MW Defensive Player of the Week last week.

The Wyoming Cowboys (1-1) are back in action Saturday at home versus Northern Colorado. Kick-off is at 2 p.m. Coverage of Cowboy football on KOWB begins at 11 a.m.
