The University of Wyoming Cowboys basketball team had to go on the road last friday to Texas and visit Southern Methodist University. The Pokes cam out sluggish and unwilling to grab an offensive rebound. Hence the first loss of the season. Wyoming traveled to SMU on Friday for its first road game of the season and dropped a 66-53 contest to the Mustangs to snap a seven-game winning streak the Pokes started 2014-15 with. Then it was back to the friendly confines of the Double AA. Senior forward Matt Sellers showed up for the second time this season as he posted a game-high 12 points and 11 different Cowboys scored to push the University of Wyoming men's basketball team to a 70-35 win over Regis on Sunday afternoon in the Arena-Auditorium. Fellow senior forward Larry Nance Jr. tallied his 1,000th point as a Cowboy, as the Pokes (8-1) dominated the paint, 36-6, and out rebounded the Rangers (2-4), 38-26. Wyoming has held six opponents under 50 points this season. "I'm very pleased that our guys could focus on the one thing I wanted them to focus on, which was hold `em, hold `em, hold `em -- 17 points the first half and 18 points the second half," UW head coach Larry Shyatt said. "I thought we did a really good job of focusing on the defensive end. We were also able to get a lot of time for our reserves. The Cowboys are on the road next at California on Wednesday at 9 p.m. MT. http://www.gowyo.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/120714aaa.html
