The Wyoming Cowboys defense stepped up and led the way in Wyoming's 28-23 victory at Utah State Saturday.

UW forced five turnovers in the game, three of which were interceptions. Carl Granderson, Kevin Prosser and Rico Gafford were the Cowboys that got their hands on Utah State passes.

Defensive end Carl Granderson dropped in coverage for a second quarter INT and showed great reaction and even better hands.

Prosser also dropped into coverage from his defensive end position and made a leaping grab. Then, to top it off returned it 28 yards for a touchdown.

On the next Utah State possession in the third quarter, Gafford made a diving interception off a tipped ball. He kept it off the turf with one hand before rolling over and securing the ball.

All three were key parts of the five-point win, which was Wyoming's third straight. The Pokes are now 2-0 in the Mountain West. They head back on the road next Saturday to face the Boise State Broncos. The game will kick-off at 8:15 p.m. and will be on ESPN2.
