Before Yellowstone had bumper to bumper traffic. Before Jackson Hole was a world class ski resort. This Wyoming destination drove people off the beaten path to its banks. Today we can see it from a drone.

Back in the mid-1800s, travelers on the Oregon Trail would venture to the LaPrele Creek and Ayres Natural Bridge. According to Converse County, it is Wyoming's first tourist attraction.

WyoHistory.org wrote about the difficulties in getting to the creek.

Visitors to the natural bridge had to climb down steep canyon walls and fight their way through heavy brush on the canyon floor. Few bothered; there are only a handful of accounts—but from them it’s clear the place left a permanent impression.

Today we just drive down I-25 to Natural Bridge Rd. A lot has changed since then. We've invented the automobile and landed a man on the moon. With all that progress, some things never change. The rivers will still flow. Wyoming will always be windy.

Over 200 years later, people still visit Ayres Natural Bridge. It doesn't get as many visitors as Yellowstone, but maybe that is a good thing.
