There is no better state in the country than Wyoming to hunt elk, and there is no better time. The last five years have been very good for elk hunters. With about a 45% success rate, the harvest is very good. Last year’s hunters posted the second highest elk harvest ever in Wyoming, bested only by 2012 which set the record.

Other than Northwest Wyoming calf production lagging, the future looks bright with Wyoming Game & Fish likely to continue early liberalized elk hunting seasons.

Kudos to land owners and groups like The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, who provide habitat and hunting access.
