‘The Darkness’ Trailer: Kevin Bacon’s Creepy Kid Is Menacing the Whole Family
Like Sinister before it, Blumhouse Productions’ new horror film also boasts a famous leading man — this time Kevin Bacon — coping with something supernatural that’s tormenting his family. The Darkness incorporates Native American mythology, a creepy kid and some mysterious black handprints in the company’s latest bid to spook you senseless. And if that doesn’t sound too appealing, The Darkness comes from Greg McLean, the director of beloved Aussie horror flick Wolf Creek.
‘Deadpool’ Broke Several Major Box Office Records This Weekend
Early tracking for Fox's Deadpool solo film suggested that Tim Miller's profanity and violence-laden superhero outing would bring in around $65 million. That number inflated over the past week, and thanks to a strong preview night on Thursday, February 11, the estimate for the risky action film ballooned to $135 million — and that's precisely how much Deadpool made in its first three days in theaters, shattering a few box office records along the way.
‘Ghostbusters’ Reveals First Official Look at the Ecto-2
A recent preview of the Ghostbusters LEGO set revealed not only the trusty ol’ Ecto-1, but an interesting new vehicle — the Ecto-2. We weren’t sure if the motorcycle would be making an appearance in the film, or if it was simply a fun bonus for the toy set. Sony has released a new image of the real Ecto-2 from the set of Paul Feig’s upcoming film, confirming that the new vehicle is indeed very much real.
Samuel L. Jackson Circling Stephen King‘s ‘Revival’ for Director Josh Boone
Just last week we learned that the long-developing adaptation of The Stand has been delayed (again), but director Josh Boone just couldn’t wait any longer to adapt a Stephen King story, so he’s set his sights on Revival. And it looks as though he’s wasting absolutely zero time in getting the sci-fi horror flick into production, as Samuel L. Jackson is reportedly in talks for one of the leading roles.
Johnny Depp Will Be ‘The Invisible Man’ in Universal’s Monster Universe Reboot
Universal is kicking off their rebooted monster universe in 2017 with The Mummy, with plans to redo classics like The Wolf Man, Bride of Frankenstein and The Creature From the Black Lagoon. SNL Ranked: Larry David Is Prett-ay, Prett-ay, Prett-ay Good
It’s kind of amazing that Larry David has never hosted SNL, and up until recently he had never really appeared on the show, either (save for a couple of tiny appearances back in the ’80s). David only managed to get one sketch on the show in the year he spent writing for SNL back in 1984–85, but now, after Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm and a couple of cold open cameos as Bernie Sanders, David finally has his chance to host. How did he do? Read on for our ranking of this week’s sketches from best to worst.
‘Miles Ahead’ Trailer: Don Cheadle Is a Mean Jazz Machine in the Miles Davis Biopic
Don Cheadle makes his directorial debut with Miles Ahead, a biopic starring the actor as iconic jazz musician Miles Davis, and judging by the first trailer, it appears to be as unconventional as Davis’ own musical stylings. In addition to the release of the full trailer for the upcoming drama, Cheadle opens up about why he chose to make Miles Ahead his directorial debut.
‘The Wolverine’ Sequel Will Reportedly Begin Shooting in April
Aside from Hugh Jackman’s “Old Man Logan” tipoff during last year’s Comic-Con, we don’t know much about The Wolverine 2. Director James Mangold is returning to the helm of the upcoming sequel, which doesn’t yet have a formal title, though it is expected to hit theaters in 2017. According to a new report, we may be learning a lot more about Jackman’s final outing as the iconic X-Men character as filming is set to begin this spring.
‘The Birth of a Nation’ Wins 2016 Sundance Grand Jury and Audience Awards
Nate Parker's The Birth of a Nation has been the talk of the 2016 Sundance Film Festival over the past week, from its premiere on January 25 to its record-breaking sale to Fox Searchlight for $17.5 million. We may very well be looking at an early Oscar contender for next year's awards, as Parker's telling of Nat Turner's slave rebellion has left a huge impression on critics and audiences at the festival. The film won both the Grand Jury and Audience awards at Sundance, with Anthony Weiner doc Weiner picking up the Grand Jury documentary prize, and Swiss Army Man grabbing a Jury award for Best Directing.

‘Fifty Shades Darker’ Casts Kim Basinger as Christian Grey’s Former Lover
In Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey alludes to his former lover / sex buddy Elena Lincoln, who basically serves as his very own Mrs. Robinson — the two had an affair when Christian was just 15 years old, as if his whole situation couldn’t get any more skeevy. Today comes news that Universal has found its Ms. Lincoln in Kim Basinger, a fitting choice for the role of the seductive, experienced and confident character who will throw a wrench in Christian’s relationship with Ana.
Tom Cruise Met With Jerry Bruckheimer About ‘Top Gun 2,’ And There’s a Photo to Prove It
We’ve heard about Top Gun 2 for several years now, but with the passing of original director Tony Scott and Tom Cruise’s consistently busy schedule, it’s hard to believe that it might actually happen. We may be closer to that long-developing sequel than ever before, as Cruise has met with producer Jerry Bruckheimer about Top Gun 2, and there’s photographic evidence to prove it.
