The $1.3 million project to renovate the area of CY Avenue and Elm and 15th streets will being March 28 and continue through October, according to a news release from Casper's public services department.

The work on the storm sewers, street surfaces, and curbs and gutters will occur in several phases.

The first phase will happen on Elm Street from CY Avenue to 15th Street and on 15th Street from Ash Street to CY Avenue.

The next phase will be on Elm Street from CY Avenue to 13th Street to 15th Street, and from CY Avenue to Spruce Street.

Work on the streets near Dean Morgan Junior High School will begin after the classes end in June.
Work will be done in sections with each section being closed to traffic.  Access will be maintained for residents.
Once work begins on 15th Street, parents and visitors to Dean Morgan Junior High will need to access the school by 14th Street.

The storm sewers under Elm and 15th Streets are old and have become undersized for the area.
The existing street surface has substantial cracking, and the curbs and gutters need repair.

The Casper City Council awarded the $1,328,000 project to Grizzly Construction, LLC, and to WWC Engineering for design and oversight.

The project is being funded by Optional One Cent Sales Tax revenues, water funds and sewer funds.
