COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., – Malene Pedersen has been named the final Mountain West Player of the Week for the season, announced Wednesday by the league office.

This is the first time Pedersen has been named the league’s player of the week. Pedersen received Freshman of the Week five times during the 2022-23 campaign.

Pedersen poured in a career-high 27 points in Wyoming’s 71-66 victory Wednesday night over top-seeded UNLV. Pedersen made 9-of-17 shots from the floor in the contest and hit a career-high five 3-pointers on nine attempts.

Pedersen, who recorded her sixth 20-point game of the season in the victory, also added four rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Pedersen and the rest of the Cowgirls now have their sights set on the Mountain West Championship in Las Vegas. Wyoming, who is the No. 2 seed will face the winner of Air Force and Utah State Monday at 6 p.m., Mountain Time.
