Look At What Goes Into Cutting New Trail In Wyoming
There's a good chance you've never thought about how your favorite hiking trail got there and is in such good shape. If that trail is in Central Wyoming, there's a good chance the Central Wyoming Trails Alliance had something to do with its condition.
The group is responsible for much of the hard work that goes into grooming the trails on Casper Mountain. They go up after fresh snow falls to ensure the trails are in good shape for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. When the snow melts, they evaluate the damage over the winter and get the trails back into hiking shape.
They are also involved in building new trails, like the one being built now on the Duncan Ranch near Glenrock, Wyoming. The trail is beginning to take shape, and progress is being made.
This weekend is Duncan Trail Days, which includes trail building, BBQ, and bike demo day with Central Wyoming Trails Alliance, Outdoor Enthusiast of Converse County, and Gear Up and Get Out There.
Quick update on area conditions. There is significant road work up Boxelder Rd., they have not been working Saturdays but that may change, so expect delays and slower travel through the construction zone. Also it is getting warmer and wildlife is very active. Watch for all the critters along the road and especially on the trails. For those of you showing up for the trail build portion we have A LOT planned if we have enough people. Please bring your favorite trail tool (no saws), gloves, and sunscreen. Tools will be provided as well. We will be having a safety/trail meeting at 8:15. See everyone soon!!!
As they've been building, they've been sharing updates on their social media and it's fantastic work being done. Check out this quick video of the progress.
